Summer patio season means one thing for local pet parents: it's finally easy to bring the whole family — four legs included — out for a meal. Across the western suburbs, a growing number of bars and restaurants roll out the welcome mat (and the water bowl) for well-behaved dogs. Here's where to find the best dog-friendly patios from Phoenixville to the Main Line.

West Chester

Four Dogs Tavern, tucked in the historic district of nearby Marshallton, is about as fitting a name as it gets — the patio is a longtime favorite for dog owners, and the kitchen even puts together a pup-friendly menu so your dog can "dine" alongside you. In town, Side Bar and Restaurant sets out fourteen dog-friendly outdoor tables, and Kildare's Irish Pub welcomes leashed pups at ten more along its patio, making West Chester's downtown one of the easiest places in the suburbs to grab a bite without leaving your dog at home.

Phoenixville

Fitzwater Station, set in a restored 19th-century building along the Schuylkill Canal, welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables and offers its own dog menu for canine diners. Conshohocken

Over in Exton, World of Beer keeps a covered patio open to dogs, and Appetites on Main goes a step further with its own doggie menu of treats.
